On 25th October at the Library we launched Juliana's Bananas, a brilliant book for children by Bradford on Avon author Ruth Walton. It tells the story of Fairtrade through a family of banana farmers in the Windward Islands, and when Ruth read it to children in the Library they were enthralled and captivated by the family story, the pictures, and learning about what Fairtrade means. Ruth went to the Windwards Islands while she was writing it and met Philemon Allen, a farmer who visited us in Wiltshire in 2011. Juliana's Bananas is a great present for children aged 4 to 10, published by New Internationalist, and costs £8.99.
Once again we put a Christmas tree with Fairtrade decorations in the Holy Trinity Christmas Tree Festival, seen by well over 1000 people. It is wonderful to see the Norman church alive with trees contributed by the whole range of people in the town.
