The market town of Tiverton is situated in Mid Devon approximately 15 miles north of Exeter. It is an expanding town within a rural community. Tiverton is at the junction of the River Exe and the River Lowman and has the Grand Western Canal, a castle and the National Trust property, Knightshayes nearby.
Tiverton first became a Fairtrade town in April 2008 and renewed its status in 2009, just one of many Fairtrade towns and communities in Devon. The Tiverton Fairtrade Support Group has the backing of many local businesses and organisations including Tiverton Soroptimists who were instrumental in the town gaining Fairtrade recognition.
Fairtrade and ethically sourced products along with locally produced items are sold in an interesting variety of shops and Tiverton's many cafes and restaurants serve Fairtrade refreshments.
